Muscle

The human body contains over 700 skeletal muscles. You will be responsible for knowing just a few of these muscles and their origins, insertions and functions (actions). The origin is defined as the stationary point of the muscle. The insertion is the movable portion. Pay close attention to the information provided in your lab manual. Several of the muscles you are responsible to know have interchangeable origins and insertion.

In order to determine their origins, insertions and functions, you must first be able to distinquish between the skeletal muscles required. Locate all muscles listed on the handout sheet. Use your lab manual to get the origin, insertion, etc. information.
