About the CIW Program
www.CIWcertified.com1. What is CIW? The CIW program is a skills certification program specifically designed to help students, professionals and career-changers enter into or advance their Information Technology (IT) careers. The CIW program consists of a family of professional IT certifications and associated curriculum that teach and validate technology skills such as Internet and network foundations, Web site design, and e-commerce, including entry-level job-role training and certifications. CIW certifications also validate skills and expertise in advanced and diverse IT disciplines, such as security, server administration, project management, application development and programming languages. CIW is endorsed and supported by the National Workforce Center for Emerging Technologies (NWCET).••• NWCET´s involvement ensures the promotion of the CIW certification as a practical way to implement skills standards, and it ensures that the CIW program continues to validate the skills required to succeed in the competitive technology-enabled workforce.
The CIW certification program: CIW certifications target students and professionals who currently or will design, develop, administer, secure and support Internet or intranet-related services. CIW offers a unique opportunity to learn, demonstrate and prove competence on Web-related technologies. The CIW program is vendor-neutral, which means the skills objectives taught and tested by the program focus on IT job roles, not vendor-specific products. This approach offers students a broader scope of knowledge and experience, which helps them in their current or future professional careers. More than 70,000 CIW certifications have been earned worldwide. The International Webmasters Association (IWA) and the Association of Internet Professionals (AIP) endorse the CIW program. Together with these associations, CIW promotes a worldwide educational and certification standard for Web industries in 106 countries.
Benefits of CIW certification: CIW certification offers industry-wide recognition of an individual´s Web skills and knowledge on an international level. It also provides tangible evidence of a student´s competency as an Internet professional and is frequently a factor in hiring and promotion decisions.
