WHAT IS HISTORY?

THE GLORIOUS CAUSE

Why the Civil War? Was it to save the Union? Was it to free the Blacks? Was it for the North to rule the nation? Did the Constitution bind the states to remain in the union eternally? If the nation was free, why couldn't the people of a state choose to leave the nation? Was it to save or destroy the Constitution? Did it mean that the federal government would no longer be bound by the specific powers granted to it in the Constitution? Is it good that the federal government should be supreme over the states in all areas? Was this the result? Why did the North win? Why did the South lose? Why is it called the first modern war? Why is it so significant in American History?
