WOMEN IN HISTORY
How did women contribute to the making of America? What were their roles? Why weren't their
contributions recognized? In the past the study of history emphasized the roles of leaders. This meant that whether
male or female, you were not of interest to historians if you were not a leader. Today the emphasis has changed.
How significant is the role of the leader in relation to that of the people? Is it good to study leaders as role models
or should we seek to dethrone the leaders of the past? In what fields did women become leaders? Why?
