James Mancuso has been a faculty member in the Maricopa Community College District since 1967. During this time he served as the department chair for Speech Communication and Theatre Arts for eighteen years. He was a speech and debate coach at both Glendale Community College as well as Mesa Community College. In addition, Jim served as the interim Dean of Instruction for MCC during the spring and summer of 1996.
To complement his work in higher education, Jim Mancuso has been a speaker, consultant and facilitator in human communication for over thirty years. Represented by the Phoenix Speakers Bureau, he has developed and presented programs for such organizations as General Dynamics Decision Systems, National Technical Information Service (NTIS) in Washington D.C., Kitchell Construction Company, the Arizona Builders' Alliance, the Arizona Homebuilders' Association, Dietz Crane Homes, the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE), Milliman - USA, Fairmont Mortage Company, AT&T, City Govt. of Phoenix (Az.), the State of Arizona Court System, the Court System of Mesa (Az.), the Salt River Project, the Dial Corp., the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Josten's Learning Corporation, the University of Phoenix, Yuma Training Alliance (YTA), the Arizona Court Reporter's Association, Prudential Insurance, the University of Illinois, Honeywell and Motorola.
Jim's background in teaching and training include such areas as interpersonal communication, small group and team interaction, meeting management, conflict management, listening dynamics, problem solving, stress management, time management, improving vocal effectiveness, presentational skills and writing skills. He addressed many of these skills in a book entitled For Team Members Only published by the American Management Association. In this book, Jim collaborated with other specialists in focusing on ways to improve effectiveness in self-directed and high performance teams.
