Dear Honors students
It's April, and we are on the downhill side of the spring semester. I hope that you're all doing well in your classes and have already completed your Honors project or are in the process of doing so. If you have any questions about the status of your Honors project, please contact your instructor immediately.
Registration is in full swing for Fall '08. If you have not already registered, please see an advisor as soon as possible and make certain to include an Honors class in your selections.
Follow this link to download and print a list of the Honors-only classes that have been created for this fall. These classes will be conducted in a seminar format and will be a rewarding academic experience. The linked document in in pdf format and you will need the Acrobat Reader to view it.
Because the Honors Program is committed to providing a quality educational opportunity, the Honors-only classes will be filled before students will be permitted to request a concurrent Honors experience.
Only if you have already taken all the Honors-only classes being offered, will you be given the opportunity to approach a faculty member about creating a "concurrent" Honors experience. In order to register for a concurrent Honors class.
Remember it is YOUR responsibility to obtain a verification form from the Honors Program office to take to the instructor with whom you want to take the class. The forms must be signed by you and the instructor and returned to the Honors Office at the Southern and Dobson campus or to Student Services at the Red Mountain campus.
Please plan to attend the Honors Forum presentation on Wednesday, April 16; featuring Wilma Mankillerentitled: "What IT Means to be an Indigenous Person in the 21st Century".
Morning lectures will be held at the Southern & Dobson campus at 9:00AM and 10:00AM. The event will be held in the Southwest Reading Room (on the third floor of the Paul A. Elsner Library). This is a great opportunity to hear an outstanding speaker on our campus in an informal setting. Her evening presentation will be held at Phoenix College that night at 7PM.
Copies of the previous Honors speakers, Mr. Bobby Seale and Mr. Ira Rifkin are now available in the reserve section of the libraries on both campuses. We do have a few extra copies in the Honors Office.
I will be out of the office until Wednesday, April 23rd. Ruth Rooney will available in the Honors office from 8:00 Am to noon daily to assist you. If it is imperative that you reach me before the 23rd, you may contact me via email, which I will check regularly. If you are a Fee Award recipient and have not your receive your award for this semester, please contact me as soon as possible so that I can expedite the award.
Good luck during the reminder of the semester and on your finals!
