Scholarships

President's Scholarship

The President's Scholarship is a tuition waiver that covers tuition and fees up to15 credit hours for four consecutive semesters, fall and spring only. It DOES NOT cover books, private instruction music classes, summer classes, or remedial classes (classes below 100 level).The President's Scholarship is available to students only within one academic year of their high school graduation.

Application and guidelines submissions must be received in the Honors office by August 1, 2008 for Fall 2008 semester.


Honors Fee Waiver

For students who have completed 12 credit hours of 100 level or above classes at Mesa Community college, or at any institution within the Maricopa Community College District, with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher, the Fee Award Program provides a tiered tuition reimbursement opportunity.

The student must be a high school graduate, or G.E.D. recipient.

Any student with the aforementioned qualifications can elect to enroll in a minimum of 3 credit hours of honors coursework to make themselves eligible for the said monies. The amount of the award is dependent on the number of total (honors and non-honors) credit hours taken and is arranged as follows:

  • $275 for 12+ credit hours a semester
  • $206 for 9 - 11 credit hours a semester
  • $138 for 6 - 8 credit hours a semester
  • $69 for 3 - 5 credit hours a semester

Honors Verification:

Each semester Honors students must verify that their instructors are aware of your need to be counted as "Honors Credit".

This form also verifies that you have discussed the honors project and requirements for your class. Also note:

  • SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS WILL NOT BE AWARDED UNTIL THIS FORM IS RETURNED.
  • Verification Form Due Date for Fall 2008 is Friday Sept. 12, 2008 by NOON.
  • Return the completed form to the Honors Office in the Social and Cultural Sciences Building (#14) OR to the Enrollment Services Office in the Mesquite Building (#5) at the Red Mountain Campus.

Other Honors Program Scholarships

In December of 2007, applications for three Maricopa County Community College District Honors Program scholarships will be available in the Honors Department Office (SC14). Completed applications are due in the Honors Office by 5:00 pm , Friday, February 22, 2008.

These scholarships include:

Betty Hedin Elsner Scholarship

This scholarship was established in memory of Betty Hedin Elsner, the mother of Dr. Paul Elsner, former Chancellor of the Maricopa Community Colleges. One student is selected each year among nominees from each college. The scholarship is awarded based on the student's achievement and financial need

Chancellor's Scholarship

For over 20 years the Chancellor's Scholarship has been awarded by the Maricopa Community Colleges to acknowledge and reward studetns who demonstrate the very highest academic achievement and service to their colleges. The scholarship covers tuition and fees for a full year plus $500 for books and supplies.

Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship is presented by the Maricopa Foundation to reward and encourage highly motivated, academically gifted students to reach their educational objectives. Each college determines the number and the size of the award.

Mesa Community College offers a variety of scholarship and grant options to students. Contact our Financial Services for more information or for assistance in applying for financial aid. Last year MCC awarded $34,000,000 in federal financial aid and $2,700,000 in scholarships.
