Online Orientation:

What are the core requirements?

In order to receive your grade and credit, you must complete the core requirements: site activities, class assignments, and meetings.

You will be completing 50 hours of service for each credit hour. During this time, you will be expected to complete your assigned tasks in a timely manner. Remember to always maintain a professional attitude throughout your service, observe the dress code, respect any confidentiality rules that apply, and seek advice if you are uncertain about something.

The classroom assignments include developing a learning plan, keeping a reflective journal, writing an analytical paper and completing a formal evaluation after you complete your hours at the Service-Learning site.

Schedule progress meetings with your faculty supervisor at least twice during the semester so that they can read your journal, provide you with feed back and advice, and make sure that you are on track with your learning plan. You are also required to attend reflective sessions during the semester.  Discuss the details of these things with your faculty advisor.

In order to graduate with Honors, honors students are required to take at least one credit of Service-Learning. They may take a regular Service-Learning class, or receive honors credits for their Service-Learning. Additional requirements for students wanting honors credit are required. You may review Honors Core Requirements here. Use the back button on the menu bar to return to this page when you are done.
