LINDA BROWN BUETTNER was a standout athlete in volleyball, basketball and track at Lincoln, Nebraska
High School. She served in the United States Marine Corps, initially at Camp Pendleton-California as a
Transportation Management Specialist and then overseas during the Persian Gulf War. On her return to
civilian life, she enrolled at Mesa Community College where, despite being classified as a disabled veteran,
she set school track records in the 400 meter (:56.26) and 3200 meter relay (9:24.38) events in 1994
that still stand today. She joined the MCC Financial Aid Office in 1998 and transferred to the Athletic
Department administrative staff in 2004. She has a degree in psychology from Ottawa University.
