DEWIGHT BYRON is originally from Springfield, Missouri, but grew up in Colorado Springs. He attended
Colorado Northwestern Community College and went on to earn his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at
New Mexico Highlands University. After coaching softball and baseball at NMHU, he joined the Mesa
Community College staff as Head Softball Coach in 1996 and has also served in administrative capacities.
His teams have a record of 429-267 going into the 2008 season, the last eight having been on the winning
side of the ledger.
DeWight is a member of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and has been an
instructor at the National Fastpitch Academy for the past seven years. He was named ACCAC Coach of the Year in 2000.
