TishinTishin Tishin Donkersley- Sports Psychologist

Tishin Donkersly is an adjunct Professor of Sports Psychology at Mesa Community College and was named Adjunct Faculty of the Year 2006 for a multitude of accomplishments in the Sports Psychology Program. She developed and implemented the Sports Psychology Program at MCC and also teaches three full courses. Tishin's courses always have a waiting list for entry due to the popularity of the curriculum. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she works on and off the field with MCC athletes and coaches in improving overall performance.

Tishin was graduated with honors from Arizona State University with a degree in Marketing and cum laude for her Master's degree in Sports Psychology from Argosy University. She is a member of the Association for Advancement of Applied Sport Psychology and was voted Dynamic Woman of Tradition by Xavier College Preparatory School in 2005.

Tishin is partnering with the Athletics Department in a new Mentorship Program that provides a definitive link between student-athletes and academic leaders. The goal of the program is to assist in the academic development of our student-athletes and assist them in their respective degree goals. Mentors are paired with specific sports teams that interact with the coaching staff on a daily basis. Our mentor's current focus is to coordinate tutoring sessions for particular subjects, identify academic resources for the student such as advisement, testing services, or multicultural services, and coordinate or monitor study tables. Additionally, student-athletes are utilizing wellness methods to improve their performance. They are exposed to yoga and tai-chi in a concerted effort to enhance their overall well-roundedness.
