Sam Ballard has been associated with coaching basketball for over 25 years. Ballard recently coached briefly at Grand Canyon University and for the Mountain Pointe High School boy's team. He spent ten years at Mountain Pointe, going 171-97 during that tenure.
Prior to Mountain Pointe, Ballard coached at Camelback High School where he went 107-69 as head coach.
Ballard also coached at Yavapai College with both the men's and women's programs. His record at Yavapai was 83-28.
Obtaining his undergraduate degree from Linfield College in Oregon in Physical Education and Political Science, Ballard taught Social Studies at Paradise Valley High School from 1985-1989.
He has since obtained his Master's Degree in Educational Administration from Arizona State University and has done coursework for a PhD in Leadership Studies.
Coach Ballard comes from the same line of coaching as Mesa legends Tom Bennett and Royce Youree.
