Mesa CC Athletic Program Recognized as Nation’s Best

Mesa Community College was the recipient of the 2004-2005 Pepsi/NATYCAA Award in recognition of having the best overall athletic program among the nation’s two-year colleges. This was the second year that Mesa has been one of the top colleges in the Pepsi Award standings, having finished third in 2003-2004. MCC Athletic Director Dan Dunn pointed out that MCC teams won 64% of their games in dual competition, and 12 of the College’s 16 teams qualified for national tournaments. He noted, “We had nine All-Americans, four Academic All-Americans, four athletes set new national records in their respective sports, and five of our coaches received post-season Coach-of-the-Year recognition.”
