Urrea Family Endowment
The Urrea Family Endowment was established October, 2006 by Jim Zaharis and the Urrea Family. The endowment begins in honor of Beatrice (Urrea) Huber.
Family History
Charles Urrea came to Mesa in the 1890's. He started a freight company that supplied the Roosevelt Dam construction project and also began farming. Charles married Amelia Burrell in 1917. Amelia attended Mesa High School. They continued to farm well into the 1980's. The family was (and remains) involved in construction, business, medicine, and education.
The Urrea children all graduated from Mesa High School:

- Donald (1952)

Scholarship Criteria
- Mesa High School Graduate
- Pursuing a higher education degree at Mesa Community College
- Nursing or Education Major
- The successful candidate will be selected by the Mesa High School scholarship committee. The recipient announcement will take place at the Mesa High end-of-year assembly.
