CIS105 - Survey of Computer Information Systems - 3 credit course

COURSE DESCRIPTION: CIS105 -- Survey of Computer Information Systems provides an overview of computer technology, concepts, terminology, and the role of computers in society. Discussion of social and ethical issues related to computers. Use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software. Includes programming and use of the Internet. Exploration of relevant emerging technologies. Prerequisites: None.

TRANSFERABILITY: CIS105 transfers to ASU's College of Business as their CIS200 course. WARNING: At ASU CIS200 is required for all majors in the College of Business EXCEPT CIS and Accounting majors. Please see a counselor if you have questions.

MCC CIS PREREQUISITE WARNING: If you are considering taking this course because it is listed as a prerequisite to a MCC CIS programming course, you need to check with a MCC CIS instructor in the Business Department. The prerequisite maybe wavied if you have extensive computer work experience or other computer related course work. Check the faculty listing off the Business Department's website.

DELIVERY MODALITIES: CIS105 is offered as a structured class which consists of the traditional classroom setting where students meet with the instructor on a regularly scheduled basis. It is also offered as a distance learning course where students communicate with the instructor, submit assignments, and take exams over the Internet.
