Creating an Email Account

All students must create a Mesa Community College (MCC) email account. The email 
created on the MCC servers grant you access to various services offered through 
MyMCC.  

Note: Before you send your message, be sure you are using your MCC email account. Based 
on the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) that protects student privacy, 
grades and personal information can only be released to the student; therefore, you must  
use your personal MCC email account when communicating with online correspondence to assure 
information being released is going directly to you.


1. Find and open Internet Explorer using the Start button.

2. In the location box enter www.mc.maricopa.edu/apps/mymcc/

3. Click on the link to Create MCC Mail Account.

   If you have created an account in the past, but have forgotten the 
   password, click on the I forgot my Password option.

   If you have created an account in the past, but have forgotten the 
   username and password, your instructor may be able to look up your
   username in their electronic roster in MyMCC.  After getting your 
   username, the password will need to be rest because that cannot 
   be retrieved.

4. The following information will need to be entered:

      Student Id:  (This is your social security number or equivalent)

        Birthday:  Your birthday is used as a PIN.  
                   Select the Month, Day, and Year from the drop down menus.

   Do NOT enter spaces and use lowercase only for the following. Keep in mind that 
   the username will be viewed by people in a school setting, so keep it clean and simple.

        Username:  (The name addressed in emails, ie: lastname)
                   (email address will be username@mail.mc.maricopa.edu)
                                   
        Password:  (A secret code to let you access your email)
Confirm Password:  (Verifies what you typed in as the password)

   Click on Submit

   If all goes well, the account should be created for you in 20 minutes or so.
   If you encounter difficulties, someone else could have the same username that you
   have selected. Try again using another username. If you continue to have problems, 
   call the MCC Help Desk number that is displayed on the bottom of the Create Account 
   screen.

5. Quit Internet Explorer.

6. You will be able to access your email account in the lab and from home 
   or other locations with Messager Express @ mail.mc.maricopa.edu:8080.
   Messager Express is a web based application that allows you to read 
   and send email, and it works with most internet browsers.

7. Forwarding Your MCC E-mail.

   If you already have an email account with another provider and
   would like to only use one email account, you can forward your
   MCC e-mail to your preferred email address.  However, you must
   use the email username and password to access WebCt and MyMcc.
   If you do not wish to forward your email, then skip this step. 

      1. Go to MyMCC @ www.mc.maricopa.edu/apps/mymcc/
      2. Login if neccessary.
      3. Click on the MyTools Tab.
      4. Click on the E-mail Forwarding Tool link. 
      5. Enter the e-mail address to forward to in the space provided, 
           and click the Click Here to Add link.
