Mesa Community College Business Administration Department Bob Chapman

Bob Chapman is in his first year as the Computer Lab Supervisor for the Business Department’s MultiUse Lab. Bob has worked in the District for nearly 4 years, most recently in a similar position at the Business & Industry Institute / Network Academy at the downtown Mesa campus. As the Computer Lab Supervisor, Bob is responsible for management of and technology support for the Business Department in the Dobson lab and for related classrooms in the BA and BP buildings, and he acts as a liaison to help support Business programs at the Network Academy and Red Mountain campuses. In addition to managing the lab, Bob reviews and provides recommendations on hardware and software purchases and maintains liaison with faculty and staff regarding software and hardware changes and implementation strategies. Before coming to Maricopa, Bob’s previous employment included positions with Motorola and United Technologies. Bob earned an AAS degree in Network Administration and holds the prestigious Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) designations. Bob also previously earned the respected CompTIA A+ certification in computer hardware and software. A New Mexico native, Bob lived in Japan for three years when he was a child. When asked if there was anything interesting or unusual he could share, Bob casually mentioned he was chosen to participate on the panel that met with President George W. Bush when the President visited MCC a few years back, and Bob was subsequently invited to, and attended, the White House Christmas Party. Most of us would agree, that qualifies as interesting and unusual! When asked what he likes most about MCC, Bob replied, “All the different types of people I get to meet and work with”. When asked what he hopes to be doing in five to ten years, he stated, “More of the same that I’m doing now. Technology changes so quick I can’t see getting bored!”. In his spare time, Bob loves to go fishing and camping, and he is a volunteer coach for Little League Baseball. Bob and his wife Kim have three sons, Bobby (25), Ryan (15), and John (13). They make their home in Mesa.
