Barbara Ellsworth is a native Arizonan and one of the original faculty members of MCC.
She is in her 38th year at MCC. She says she began when she was 11 !
Most of the campus was a corn and alfalfa field with grazing sheep when Barbara started at MCC.
Barbara received a Masters degree from ASU and teaches BPC and OAS classes here in the Business Dept. She is one of the first holders of the new Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3) and has authored 5 innovative courses in which the software resides entirely on the Internet.
Barbara and her husband, Dean, make their home in Chandler. They have 5 children and are busy building a 2nd home in Show Low.
Barbara is active in church and volunteer activities and local politics. She once served a welfare mission for 3 months at the bottom of the Grand Canyon in Havasupai Village. Another time, Barbara, Dean and family all agreed to forgo Christmas presents to pay for a 2-week trip to Honduras as a service project to help the people who were homeless from Hurricane Mitch. They helped build 10 X 20 block homes with tin roofs and taught typing and English. She considers Hawaii and Honduras the most interesting places she has ever been.
Barbara says she really enjoys her MCC co-workers and students but also looks forward to her summer vacations.
