Bill Haggard

Bill Haggard Bill Haggard is a 3rd generation native Arizonan, born and raised in the Phoenix area. Bill started teaching Office Administration at Mesa College in 1967 and more recently has been teaching General Business, Management and Marketing classes. Having retired once, Bill classifies himself as an active retiree / adjunct faculty member. He proudly claims the title of oldest member in the Business department. His friends just say he’s a really nice guy and an effective teacher.

Mr. Haggard received his BA and MA from Arizona State University and worked for 1st National Bank of Arizona (now Wells Fargo Bank), Motorola and other local companies. Bill served for a decade as the coordinator/supervisor of the Business Administration evening school program. His duties included planning, recruiting and hiring, scheduling all classes and all evening program coordination.

During his tenure at MCC, Bill was awarded two sabbaticals to visit with businesses to help strengthen MCC programs. He was also selected for the prestigious Kaleidoscope creative teaching project.

During his spare time, Bill gives back to the community by sponsoring families (year-round) through St. Vincent DePaul. He says the most interesting place he has ever visited is Yellowstone National Park.

From his experience, Bill says two of the biggest challenges facing members of the department are: getting to know co-workers better; and dealing with an incredibly rapid change. Bill really loves teaching and interacting with students, faculty and staff members and hopes to be teaching for many years to come. He makes his home in Tempe and enjoys spending time at his cabin in the Prescott area.
