Charles “Chuck” Hall is currently serving a One Semester Only (OSO) teaching assignment in the
Business Department. During his three years at MCC, his courses have included Introduction to Business,
Management & Leadership, Human Relations in Business, Total Quality Management, Cultural Dimension for
International Trade, Supervision, and Starting & Owning a Small Business.
Chuck can claim he is “one of our own”, having completed his AA at MCC prior to earning a BS in Business
Administration (Finance) from ASU and a MA in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix.
He has a distinguished career in corporate management and has served organizations including Western Union,
American Express, Continental Airlines, and First National Bank of Louisville, KY. Chuck also has Direct
Marketing experience (DIMAC Direct) and held several positions of authority with Harlequin Books including
VP for Customer Services as well as Vice President & General Manager. Chuck was instrumental in relocating
Harlequin Books to Tempe.
Chuck is an Ohio native and a Navy Vietnam Veteran. His hobbies include Amateur (Ham) Radio and collecting
post-WWII Lionel trains. He likes to barbeque, and is a member of the Masonic Lodge and Sigma Iota Epsilon
(the professional business society). He volunteers his experience and expertise with SCORE, the Senior Core
of Retired Executives.
At MCC, Chuck enjoys the opportunity to surround himself with caring and educated people. He especially
appreciates the chance to better his teaching skills via the mentoring he has received from his fellow colleagues in
the Business Department and the Center for Teaching & Learning. He is a member of the WebCT Users Group and
the newest member of the prestigious Social Committee.
Chuck recently returned from ‘S-Hertogenbosch, Netherland where he was “visiting professor” during the fall semester
at Koning Willem I College (King William 1st) School for the Future. He was responsible for instructing four business
classes to approximately sixty first and second year international business students while conducting an online
Management & Leadership class for MCC students. Chuck participated in recruiting new students for the College as
well as attending cultural functions throughout the semester. His contribution to the partnership between King William
& MCC paved the way for Dutch students to earn credit certificates leading to the goal of completing their AAS Degree
in Organizational Management at MCC.
His Dutch colleagues made sure they would not be forgotten by sending Chuck home with his own pair of wooden
shoes (klompen). Chuck invites everyone to see them by “checking out his office wall”.
Chuck has two grown sons, Kevin and Jason. Interestingly, Chuck and both sons were all attending college at the same
time a few years ago. Chuck played the trumpet and French horn in high school, and he performed in marching bands
for MCC and the US Navy. The most interesting place Chuck has ever been is Kobe, Japan. According to Chuck,
“It is a beautiful city, well known for their tender beef as they hand-massage each animal daily!” Chuck and his wife
Shawn make their home in Chandler.
