Chris Held
is a native of Pittsburgh, PA. Her husband’s name is Larry and they have two children,
Dineen and Matt. When time permits, her hobbies include swimming, exercising, and reading
mystery/romance novels. She is involved in community and professional activities,
which includes being a member of the Val Vista Lakes Women's Club and being on the
committee for distance learning and the MCC Web Club.
Chris was an adjunct faculty member at both MCC and Chandler-Gilbert Community College before becoming fulltime at MCC. Prior to working for MCC, she worked ten years as the MIS Business Manager for CLR Medical and Security Systems, Inc., and for four years owned and operated Oil & Lube shops with her husband.
Chris is starting her 4th year as a full-time CIS/BPC Residential Faculty member for MCC. She received a M.S. in Instructional Design for Web-Based Learning and is certified at the expert (master) level in Microsoft Office and the new Internet and Computing Core Curriculum (IC3). Since being with MCC, she has utilized her education and certification skills by teaching such diverse classes as BPC110, BPC210, BPC250, CIS105, and CIS114.
Chris recently assumed the enormous task of being the Program Director for all of the BPC/OAS business department courses. This added responsibility includes staffing, course development and curriculum, and making sure everyone's needs are met in order to facilitate a smooth running environment.
The most interesting place Chris has been is Hawaii. What she likes most about MCC are the people. She hopes to be teaching at MCC for many years in the future. When asked what others might find surprising about her, she replied, “nothing - what you see is what you get, and believe it or not, I do have a ‘Shy’ side”.
