Aileen Ormiston

Aileen Ormiston Aileen Ormiston was born in Washington D.C. during the Eisenhower administration. As an Air Force daughter, she traveled extensively and has been to several interesting places. She never lived anywhere more than three years and those were tours in Japan and Germany. She recalls an interesting time and place during her childhood when she lived in the South in the 1960s with Yankee parents. Besides living overseas, she also lived in California, Mississippi, Georgia, Massachusetts, Michigan, Maryland, and Texas. She has found all of these places enriching and interesting.

Her husband’s name is Michael and she has two grown children, Joshua and Jacqui whom she finds are a whole lot more interesting than their Mom and suggested that maybe we should highlight them!

Aileen has been teaching with MCC for 20 years. She started as an adjunct in 1984 and became fulltime in 1989. She has a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from Michigan State University and a Master’s degree in finance from Texas A&M University. She once served as the Business Department Chair, and is currently an Accounting Business faculty member. She teaches Accounting classes, in particular the ACC230/240 transfer classes. She had a key role in developing those classes in conjunction with ASU in the early 90s.

Aileen is a member of the American Accounting Association and is a former member of the AICPA and IMA. She used to hold a CPA license, but has not found a need to have it renewed since she no longer practices in public accounting. She has worked in industry at such places as Colombia Moulding Company, a subsidiary of Jim Walters Corporation, John Hopkins University, and Ingram, Wallis & Co., CPAs.

Aileen is a very accomplished professional who received an award as “Innovator of the Year”, see plaque in the business department. She also is co-author of two books on financial statement analysis.

What she has liked most about MCC are the students! When asked what she hopes to be doing in 5 to 10 years – “ Enjoying life, but chances are I will still be working too many hours!”
