Red Mountain Team

Red Mountain Team The Red Mountain Computer Lab / Open Entry Team includes, pictured left to right, LaDawn Goodman, Kitty Chapin and Silvia Chavez.

LaDawn Goodman covers the morning shift as a Computer Lab Assistant. She is in her 2nd year at MCC and really enjoys coming to work. A BPC110 grad, LaDawn likes helping Open Entry students with their orientation and learning to navigate through MIDAS. LaDawn loves to cook, especially Mexican food and deserts. Her favorite recent vacation was a camping trip to San Diego. A surprising fact about LaDawn is that she was once hit by a semi truck and broke dozens of bones. She and her husband of 22 year, Jerry, have 6 children. They formerly ran a bookstore and a candy store and make their home in Mesa.

Kitty Chapin is in her 4th year at MCC and is the Computer Lab Technician for Red Mountain. Her background includes a technical degree from Maricopa Tech (now GateWay CC), she has taken many BPC, CIS and ACC classes, and she has experience in both Computer Networking and as an Instructional Aide. A Phoenix native, Kitty previously worked for the Phoenix Union High School District for 20 years. She really likes working with her co-workers and the students at Red Mountain. She is responsible for Open Entry, proctoring, Microsoft Certification Testing, The Multi Generational Center and the Library computer labs. Some interesting facts about Kitty: She has a degree in Radiology and worked on the first MRI machine in Phoenix; and she was delivered by a Police Officer – her own dad. Kitty has 2 children, is a big NASCAR fan and hopes to be retired in 10 years.

Silvia Chavez is the afternoon/evening Computer Lab Assistant at Red Mountain. She has worked for MCC for 3 years and is a graduate of both BPC110 and BPC210. She really likes working with her co-workers and assisting students with their open entry and computer classes. She prides herself on doing things right the first time. Born and raised in Mexico, Silvia is bilingual and has been known to bring in some terrific Mexican food to share with co-workers. She has worked in several clerical and secretarial jobs and, interestingly, Silvia is a trained Physical / Massage Therapist. Her favorite recent vacation was to Ensenada, Mexico on the Baja Peninsula coast. She makes her home in east Mesa.
