Angeline Surber became a full-time faculty member for the Mesa Community College Business/CIS Department
in 2002. She began her career as an Administrator for Singer Link, a flight simulation company in Sunnyvale,
California. Later, while attending MCC, she received an A.A. degree in Computer Information Systems and worked
as an Administrator for Chandler Valley Hope, scoring and administering psychological and IQ tests. After receiving
her degree, she worked and became part owner in her family’s Accounting and Computer Consulting business.
She later moved to England where she received a B.A. from the University of Maryland, European Division, in Computer Studies. Back in the U.S., Angie was hired as the Plant Manager, and later promoted to Operational Manager, for RGS, a graphical reproduction company. While working at RGS, she attended the University of Phoenix where she received a M.A. in Organizational Management. After leaving RGS, she joined Honeywell as a Cash Application – Team Lead for the Airspace Division in the Global Credit Department.
Angeline decided to pursue her passion for teaching and became an Adjunct Faculty member for Mesa Community College. In 2001-2002, she served as the Adjunct Faculty Association Representative for MCC and was elected to serve as the Secretary for the District Association. She was hired as, and still serves as, the Business Department short-term Class Coordinator. She was hired by the Business Department for the 2002-2003 school year as an OYO and became a full-time Residential Faculty member the following year.
Angeline is a member of Maricopa Community College Residential Faculty Association. She is a Microsoft Office Specialist, and holds teaching certificates in both Computer Information Systems and Business. She was honored with the “Catch of the Month” award from MCC in 2002, and is listed in the 8th Edition of “Who’s Who Among Teachers for 2003-2004.” This year, she became a Multiple Year Honoree of “Who’s Who Among Teachers for 2004-2005” and will be listed in the upcoming 9th publication.
Her hobbies include fishing, golf, tennis, archery, skeet shooting, art, and going to the theater. Asked what she likes most about her job, she ponders for a moment, and after careful thought and consideration, replies with a smile, “what I learn from other teachers that will help me become a better teacher so that I can help inspire students to reach their full potential”. As Linda Collins would say, “we no longer motivate our students, but rather inspire them!”
For 30 years, Angeline has been married to Ben, a Senior Electronic Engineer. They make their home in Tempe. They have a grown son, David, who is attending ASU as an Art major.
