Deb Weberg was born in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (AKA Yooper). Her teenage daughter, Nikki,
is a senior at Mesquite High and is concurrently enrolled at Rio & Chandler Gilbert Colleges.
Deb is currently in her 5th year as a CIS residential faculty member for the Business Department.
She teaches CIS105, E-Commerce, E-Portfolio, and Web Development classes.
Before joining the business department, Deb designed and implemented over 60 courses for
private industries, universities, and various community colleges. She has taught at the
MCC Business & Industry Institute, Motorola, ASU (Downtown Campus), University of Phoenix,
and Southwest Academy of Technology. She was a Technical Training Engineer for Intel Online
Services and taught adult education, computer, customer service, management, process, academic,
and employee development courses. In an OYO position, she served as the BPC Department Chair
for Rio Salado College. At Rio, she was responsible for the computer labs, distance learning,
and traditional computer courses including course offerings, curriculum development, and
management of lead instructors. She worked at the Apollo Group (University of Phoenix), as a
Technical Training Manager and Instructor for over six years. In addition, she has edited six
software training and reference textbooks and has written and monitored contract proposals
in response to grants and RFP’s for state and federal agencies.
She is currently working on her Ed.D. in Educational Technology from Northcentral
University. She holds a Master of Arts in Organizational Management from the University
of Phoenix, a Bachelor of Arts in Management from the University of Phoenix, and an
Associate of Applied Science in Middle Management from MCC. Deb is CIW Certified
and is a Microsoft Office Specialist in PowerPoint. She has served on many
MCC Committees including Distance Learning (4 years), Program Development and the
CTL. Deb is one of the Web Club Advisors and a Liaison for CIS105.
Deb has many interests. She likes hiking, reading, camping; movies, plays,
concerts, dancing, and traveling. Some of the more interesting places she has
been include: Seoul, Korea; Singapore; Bangalore, India; Hong Kong (where she
did training for Intel); and Australia (Sydney/Blue Mountain area) – where she
definitely wants to return. Deb is also very involved in community activities.
Once or twice a year she goes to Mexico to build houses with Amore Ministries.
She loves to spend time with her daughter and friends. She is a vocalist on her church’s
Praise and Worship Team.
Something that might surprise others about Deb is that she was the manager
of the girl’s basketball team in high school. Another surprising thing is this past summer
she completed a two-week whirlwind road trip (approx 5800 miles), that included the Grand
Canyon, Zion, Yellowstone, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Bear World, Duluth, upper Michigan,
Mackinac Island, Niagara Falls (Canada & US), and then home through some of the southern states.
Asked what she hopes to be doing in 5 to 10 years: “Teaching! (at MCC hopefully) and traveling
during the summer”. Asked what she likes most about MCC: “The students and those I work with.
Everyone is helpful and works as a team.”
