This is a 23 slide series that will take you through the Great Ruins of Zimbabwe in southern Africa. Relatively large pictures are involved so you may want to consider this as you take this journey. The journey is one into which you can explore a lost city but also the nature of explanations in an historical sense. Many misconceptions have arisen about Zimbabwe because of closed minds and a need for history to be a certain way. This is the story of a place of great lore and a story of how societies all over the world really are much alike.

Photographs of the ruins were scanned and prepared by Richard Effland, but were originally shot as slides by Dave Turkon. The text is a product of material prepared by Richard Effland and Dave Turkon (both of the Cultural Science Department, Mesa Community College). The graphic "slide show" was prepared by Alan Levine of the Maricopa Center for Learning and Instruction, Maricopa Community College District.
