Remains of shelters consisting of mammoth bones date around 23,000 years ago. These shelters were partly underground and each were separated from their neighbor. The bones were also placed very precisely, and used approximately 46,000 pounds of bone. There were also "zoning laws" in these communities. There were different areas for different activities such as cooking, butchering, and even a garbage dump.
