INTRODUCTION TO NATURAL SELECTION

Do we ever know if "winners" in nature's struggle for survival enjoy adaptive superiority? It is a fact that part of nature's story includes the demise of individuals who were eminently capable "winners". They were winners in the sense that they possessed specialized means to survive. Yet, they went extinct. This module will help you understand how nature works. We will explore a number of principles that will assist you to understand natural selection. We will introduce a number of concepts that you may not have come in contact with during your learning experience. These will be important concepts to learn so that you can apply them as you examine man's natural history. Remember that man is merely a part of nature. In order to understand man, therefore, we must understand how nature operates.
