FSC102 Fire Department Operations
FSC 102 covers fire fighting skills, equipment,
administrative policies, fire department operations and personnel policies.
Accredited through International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC),
a Firefighter I & II Certificate is earned upon successful completion of course curriculum and practical skills assessments. Certificates are sanctioned through the National Fire Protection
Association (NFPA) and the Arizona State Fire Marshall. The
Fire Academy is a 16 week, semester long course.
How do I get into the Fire Academy?
Prerequisites for FSC102
- Current Arizona State EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) Certificate
- Current CPR (Cardiopulmonary/Resuscitation Basic Life Support issued through AHA, ASHI, ARC at the healthcare Provider Level
- FSC 105 Hazardous Materials/First Responder or Hazardous Materials/First Responder Certificate
- FSC 130 Fitness & Conditioning/CPAT with a passing grade within six months prior to acceptance OR completed passed CPAT within six months prior to acceptance
The above courses may be transferred from another college or completed at any of the MCCCD colleges
Co-requisite for FSC102
- FSC 134 Fitness & Conditioning/Firefighters
*Applications are accepted throughout the year. A minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4 point system is required
for all courses that apply to the MCC Fire Academy.

To apply to the Fire Academy, please download Admission Packet (PDF). Packets are available at the Williams Campus, Down-town Campus and at the the Admission Office located at the Southern & Dobson Campus.
There will be 2 academy class offerings beginning Fall 2008. Fire academy dates and times are as follows:
Section #16615: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8am-2pm
Section #41112: Tuesday, Thursday 4pm-9pm and Saturday 8am-5pm
