What is the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT)?

The job of a fire fighter is one of the most physically demanding jobs in North America. It requires high levels of cardiopulmonary endurance, muscular strength and muscular endurance. The Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) consists of critical physical tasks that simulate actual job duties on the fireground.

*The CPAT Orientations and Practices are optional. Once you have registered, you are eligible to attend both orientations and both practices for the CPAT. They are provided to help prepare for the CPAT and are included in the registration cost. However, you are not required to attend any of these events to take the CPAT.
