Study Abroad in Britain

Courses Offered:

  • ENG 222: British Literature: Romantics to the Present
  • HIS 251: English History to 1700
  • HUM 107: Humanities through the Arts: British Culture
  • ENG 217: Personal and Exploratory Writing

Includes:
Round-trip airfare from Phoenix to London, ground transportation from London to Nottingham and return, housing, weekly excursions to selected major historic/literary sites, use of New College Nottingham facilities, including computer lab and library.

Estimated cost:
The estimated cost for SAB is $3600.   Tuition and food are not included in this price.

Housing:
Participants will be housed in Student Residential Housing in Nottingham within walking distance of New College Nottingham.  Housing units include kitchens, private bedrooms, laundry facilities, and electronic security.

Excursion Sites:
Major excursions are scheduled for Fridays and will include:

  • Stratford-upon-Avon (Shakespeare Country)
  • London
  • York

Other, optional visits may be made to such sites as:

  • Sherwood Forest, made famous through the tales of Robin Hood
  • Chatsworth (and a myriad of other grand stately homes, many used as backdrops for Hollywood films—Chatsworth was featured in Pride and Prejudice recently!)
  • Hadrian’s Wall (built by the Romans during their occupation of the island)
  • The Lake District (lakes, mountains, stunning vistas—and beloved home of Wordsworth and Coleridge)
