BIO 205 Microbiology
PREREQUISITE: Bio 181 or Bio 156, or equivalent, or permission of instructor.
Study of microorganisms and their relationship to health, ecology, and related fields.
Topics include the differences between viruses, bacteria, and parasites; characteristics that affect pathogenicity; immunology; methods to culture and identify microbes; and antiseptic techniques.
Bio 205 fulfills the requirement for an SG (science general) elective course at ASU.
Bio 205 may not be used for microbiology majors credit at ASU unless a diagnostic test is passed. Bio 220 is the preferred course for microbiology and biology majors at some institutions. Please contact your transfer institution for current advisement information.
Bio 205 is a required prerequisite for programs in Nursing (practical and registered), Dental Hygiene (NAU and Pima C.C.), Chiropractic medicine, Physical Therapy, Pharmacy, and Physician Assistant majors at most schools.
