Bio211 – Biotechnology Seminar
with emphasis on selected topics

Prerequisites: none for BIO211AA, but admission to the biotechnology program or permission of the instructor is requried for the remainder of the series.

The biotechnology seminar series is required for students in the biotechnology program, but is open to other interested students with permission of the instructor.  There are four different courses in the series each focusing on another area of biotechnology.

Completion of the Bio211 seminar series will provide the student with the ability to understand and summarize current developments in research and laboratory techniques related to biotechnology.  Through experience reviewing literature (both scientific and “general”) the student will develop an appreciation for the ethical and moral implications of biotechnology as well as the ability to formulate knowledgeable opinions and to participate in debates related to current issues.
