Program Description:

Music is a form of self expression. Through course work and performance, you have an opportunity to discover the inner self, to develop your talents and to bring music to the enjoyment of others.

The performance of music is one of the oldest art forms and expresses a rich tradition of which you can become a part. Music is a window to other cultures and eras and affords the opportunity to learn about present-day culture.

Performance Opportunities:

We offer a variety of classes and are actively involved in concerts and productions throughout the year. Although some positions are auditioned, our organizations are open to all students and others in the community. You need not be a music major to participate in courses or performing organizations. The department encourages and sponsors student recitals each semester that are open to the public.

Career Opportunities:

Those choosing to major in music often pursue careers as professional musicians, educators, music merchandisers, members of the recording industry or private instructors.

Meeting Your Needs:

We are dedicated to students' needs and the learning process. Small classes, filled with a friendly atmosphere and individual attention, are designed to help you succeed.

Other Opportunities:

Music can be appreciated at many levels. Participation in the Music Department will not only teach you to appreciate and understand music, but it will also help you build confidence, something important to have regardless of your profession.
