Future Students
The Music Department at Mesa Community College offers opportunities for the transfer of degree/certificate seeking students as well as the non-major students who which to explore the world of music.

Music Performance (Instrumental or Choral) or Music Education, students must meet with an advisor in the department before registering for classes. Students pursuing the Audio Production Technology or Music Business studies but do not need to meet with an advisor prior to registration.
Before meeting with an advisor in the Music Department please take the following steps:
* Please complete the Theory Placement test on-line Music Theory Placement Exam
* Complete your assessment tests in Math, English and Reading in the building just South of the MU Building. (Testing Center is next to the Bookstore)
* Call to schedule an appointment with the director of your chosen program: Instrumental Music – Rob Hunter 461 7884, Vocal Music – Craig Peterson 461 7164, Music Business – Annie Perdue 461 7869 OR during the summer with the Department Chair, Sue Anne Lucius, at 461-7577 or 461-7575. Bring the results of the two assessments above with you to the appointment.

Community members wishing to participate in the choral or instrumental ensembles should contact the directors of the ensembles for direct information.
If you are currently a high school student (or home schooled student) and interested in receiving college credit for music classes or ensembles, you should start by completing the underage student forms. You will need to complete the forms and get the signatures of the appropriate officials before enrolling for classes.
