Getting Started!

Congratulations on starting your college career. It may seem a little confusing or overwhelming as you first start to make decisions, research your options and learn to navigate the college systems.

This is a short list of things that will help you get started:

Identifying your area(s) of interest:

If you already know that you want to do something in the Music field but are unsure as to what your major will be, please schedule an appointment with one of the MCC Music advisors. Getting the right information up front will get you off on the right foot. The advisors can help you determine what program to follow, will help you with checksheets and getting the right classes and answer your questions about possible department scholarships.

As a music major you will be registering for Music Theory, please take the on-line Theory Placement Test before meeting with the advisor to set up your classes.

Applying to the college:

Follow the steps listed at Getting Started for new students. These steps include getting admitted to the college, registering for classes, financial aid and much more. Additional information to make your MCC experience even better can be found at the main page for future students.

Auditions:

Several of the MCC Music Ensembles require that you audition for inclusion and/or proper placement. A listing of the annouced auditions and the contact information to arrange directly for an academic audition can be found at Auditions.
