The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies provides Honors students an approach that draws students together
- from multiple classes taught by an instructor
- from multiple courses within our department
- across all departmental lines
The Students for Cultural Engagement is our umbrella. The SCE, a hub into which the various student groups on campus are drawn into a wider engagement, frames "Honors" within that engagement and moves the Honors project away from simply another assignment hoop and toward an experience that fosters interaction with other students and our wider community.
A student participating in the SCE Honors Experience is working toward a
group project that is shared with the wider campus community. Each group is
formed of 4-8 students, and formed within the SCE. Each group meets twice during the semester with a faculty advisor, and every student participates in three of the
ten scheduled House of Wisdom (HOW) events.
We are also offering an online version of the SCE Honors Experience.
Projects are planned, developed and carried out online, and students can
participate in either the traditional or the online version of the House of Wisdom.
