Groups providing immediate emergency relief from hunger:

  • WorldVision.org. An international Christian outreach that directs over $2 billion per year to provide relief. Click "Find a gift now" to donate.
  • Heifer International. Initiated in the 1930s by a Church of the Bretheren relief worker as a way to make hunger relief self-sustaining. Click "Go" next to "The most important gift catalog in the world" to donate.
  • C.A.R.E.. Started in 1945 to provide relief to WWII survivors, C.A.R.E. now operates in 70 countries.

Groups focused on systemic change:

  • The Hunger Project. Established in 1977, The Hunger Project provides information and advocacy, and initiated InterAction, a coalition of 165 relief groups.
  • One.org is not an avenue for direct relief, but provides information on poverty and AIDS, and a path for advocacy.
