Mission Statement
We seek to embody, encourage and educate for "Engagement" within a safe and interactive environment that embraces our entire campus community.
Purpose
To bridge the barriers that exist among the various student groups
To create a non-threatening environment for relationships among people of various cultures, religious traditions, and perspectives.
To be a symbol for others on campus of the possibilities that engagement brings.
Membership
Anyone who is a current part-time or full-time student at MCC is eligible for membership.
To maintain membership status a member must attend at least two meetings per semester and/or one event.
There are no membership dues.
Officers
Officers will be determined by vote to be held in a regular meeting.
The date of the election must be announced at a regular meeting at least seven days prior to the election.
Positions will include: President; Vice-president; Treasurer; Secretary; Public Relations Officer.
The President will oversee the total operation of the group. He/She will oversee all meetings. He/She will supervise all other club functions, reporting to the club on a regular basis the status of each aspect.
The Vice-President coordinates all scheduling and oversight of events, including liaisons with other campus and community groups, group speakers, and fundraising events. The Vice-President will also assume the role of the President for club meetings in the President’s absence.
The Treasurer tracks and oversees all group income and expenditures, and makes regular reports to the President about the groups finances.
The Secretary is responsible for maintaining a record of group meetings, including minutes, election results and an archive of all announcements and notices.
The Public Relations Officer is responsible for publicity of the group and group activities in the wider campus community and beyond. He/She is to direct the regular maintenance of the group’s website.
Responsibilities of Members
Members are the group’s representatives on campus. Each member is responsible for making the wider community aware of the Students for Cultural Engagement and its efforts.
Members are to seek ways to develop their own level of Engagement both as part of the SCE and as members of the campus and community environment.
Members are to seek out ways to develop and participate in SCE efforts to promote Engagement.
Eligibility
All members should seek academic excellence. Members must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0.
Members may not participate in group meetings or activities while under the influence of any drug or alcohol.
Members must maintain the same decorum at off-campus activities as they would on campus. Failure to do so may lead to suspension of membership.
