Nutrition for Fitness & Wellness Certification

Students interested in pursuing a career as a fitness professional will enhance their knowledge within the nutrition field with this new certification.

This program is designed to enhance the nutrition knowledge and skills of personal trainers and group activity instuctors thus increasing their marketability.

Nine courses [23 credits] are required to earn the certificate. A recommended two semester course plan follows:

Semester I:

  • FON 100 - Introduction to Nutrition [3]
  • FON 100AD - Nutrition Sports & Physical Activity [1]  (offered online)
  • FON 140AA - Food for Fitness [2]
  • EXS 125 - Exercise Science [3]
  • EXS 130 - Strength Training - Principles & Techniques [3]

Semester II:

  • FON 140BD - Weight Control [1]
  • EXS 112 - Application of Fitness Principles [3]
  • FON 230 - Nutrition for Special Populations [3]
  • FON 137 - Nutrition Supplements [2]   (offered online)
