Mesa Community College currently offers the curriculum that assist students in taking the National Certification Exams for Personal Training.

  • BIO160-Introduction into Anatomy & Physiology (4)
  • HES100-Healthful Living (3)
  • HES154-CPR & 1st Aid or equivalent Health Care Provider Certification (3)
  • EXS112-Professional Application of Fitness Principles
  • EXS125-Exercise Science(3)
  • EXS130-Strength Training Principles & Techniques(3)
  • EXS145-Guidelines for Exercise Testing & Perscription (3)
  • HES271-Prevention & Treatment of Athletic Injuries (3)

*EXS275-Methods of Enhancing Physical Performance. Pre-requisites, EXS125 or EXS130 or instructor permission

*EXS285-Program Design & Instruction. Pre-requisites, EXS145 or instructor permission

Curriculum currently available for Associates of Applied Science in Strength, Nutrition & Personal Training-transferable to Bachelor's of Applied Science in Wellness.

Waiver of Certification Guarantee:

Completion of all assigned curriculum does not guarantee passing and/or obtaining certification as a Personal Trainer. Certification requirements are the exclusive rights and responsibility of the certifying organization. Students must satisfy the requirements of the particular certifying organization, independent of any college or school curriculum completed.
