The Physical Science outreach program, led by Donna Benson (Geology Faculty), has grown from educating 50-100 students a year to educating over 1,000 students a year. The targeted schools are title 1 schools with little or no science content. This program allows K-6th graders the opportunity to learn about Geology, Physics, Astronomy, Engineering, and Chemistry through hands-on activities, including creating slime, digging for fossils, making comets and experiencing volcanic eruptions. The program has become a great success with volunteer help from the Physical Science faculty, staff and MCC students. For more information on our Outreach program, please contact Donna Benson @ (480) 461-7247. |
