Psychology Core Curriculum:
PSY 101 - Introduction to
Psychology
-
This course acquaints you with the basic principles,
methods, fields (development, social, cognitive,
experimental, etc.) and areas (motivation, emotion,
learning, memory, sensation and perception,
personality, etc.) studied in psychology. This
course is a prerequisite for many other programs in
addition to Psychology. Additionally, students are
strongly encouraged to enroll in PSY 102, while they
are enrolled in PSY 101, to enhance their
Introductory Psychology experience.
PSY 230 / 231 -
Introduction to Statistics
-
This
course covers the basic concepts of descriptive and
inferential statistics, with emphasis on application
to psychological studies. In our computer
laboratory, you will learn how to collect, sample,
graph, analyze and evaluate experimental data. PSY
230 and PSY 231 must be taken concurrently.
PSY 290 - Research Methods
-
This course teaches how to plan, execute, analyze
and report psychological experiments. You will
survey the literature on procedures and instruments
used in representative areas of psychological
research.
