More researchers are leaning toward the positive aspects of day care, especially for under priveledged and neglected children.Good day care provides an opportunity for children to enrich and expand their minds. Bruce Perry, chief of psychiatry at Texas Childrens Hospital and a neuroscientist at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston says, "It's unfair to expect one or two parents to provide all of the rich opportunity that our brain is seeking."

One of the major concerns among most parents is the question of whether an early introduction to day care will effect the infant or child's sense of trust in the parent.

"For years, studies have suggested that babies who spend 20 or more hours a week in child care are less secure and more likely to become poorly behaved at older ages than those who stay with their mother's." However, recent studies show a more positive side, "Child care alone - no matter the type, quaulity or duration - does not harm toddler's sense in thier mother's. Thus, it is not likely to lead to behavior problems later on."
