smiling |
There are two types of
smiling that can be identified in infants.
These are the reflexive and social
smile.
Reflexive Smiling appears during the first month after
birth and is not in response to external stimuli. It usually occurs
when the infant is not in an alert state.
Social Smiling Occurs in response to an external stimuli. It does not occur until about 2 months, and is typically in response to a face.
