Welcome to the Mesa Community College Automotive Performance
Program. I am Joe Rauscher, the program director. We have assembled what
we think is the best Automotive Performance program anywhere.
Automotive Performance is designed to prepare students to
be automotive technicians. Emphasis is placed on developing good diagnostic
skills. Graduates will possess a minimum of entry level skills. Graduates
will be able to pass the national ASE Certification Tests upon completion
of the course work. This will supply the graduate with marketable skills
to enter the job market. The program is designed to provide "hands-on"
experience in a "live" working environment similar to the service
industry. In addition to the degree program, five certificate programs
are also available. These include: Engine Performance and Diagnosis, Air
Conditioning, Brakes, Alignment, Suspension and Steering, Transmissions
and Power Trains, and Automotive electrical Systems.
The optional certificates provide a stepped path leading
to the AAS degree.
This page is a starting point for gathering ATP
information and getting registered for class. At MCC we can do all the
"paperwork" online if you wish.
I would recommend you read our FAQs
[frequently asked questions] for answers to questions you may have
about Automotive Performance in general, and our program, in particular.
Let's get started!
