Anthropology

Welcome to Anthropology at Mesa Community College!
Anthropology is about you – who you are as a participant in a culture, where you can trace your origins, and how you fit into nature. It is the story of what we humans share in the ways we behave and the ways we have come to play such a major role in the world. It is about what we can learn about ourselves. It about what it means to be human in a cultural, biological and historical perspective. Anthropologists try to answer questions about where and when human life arose, what past societies and civilizations were like, what drives us to war, how religion is shaped in different ways across different societies and what its purposes are for human societies in general, and how economics, unequal distribution of resources and wealth within societies can impact those societies. For more information about the field of Anthropology, potential careers in this discipline, Anthropology faculty, and courses that are offered at Mesa Community College.
Anthropology is part of the Cultural Science Department at Mesa Community College.
