Computer Information
Systems

Welcome to Computer Information Systems at Mesa Community College!
Computer Information System (CIS) is a subset of the overall internal controls of a business covering the application of people, documents, technologies, and procedures by management accountants to solving business problems such as costing a product, service or a business-wide strategy. Management Information Systems are distinct from regular information systems in that they are used to analyze other information systems applied in operational activities in the organization.
Academically, the term is commonly used to refer to the group of information management methods tied to the automation or support of human decision making, e.g. Decision Support Systems, Expert systems, and Executive information systems.
The CIW certification program
CIW certifications target students and professionals who currently or will design, develop, administer, secure and support Internet or intranet-related services. CIW offers a unique opportunity to learn, demonstrate and prove competence on Web-related technologies. The CIW program is vendor-neutral, which means the skills objectives taught and tested by the program focus on IT job roles, not vendor-specific products. This approach offers students a broader scope of knowledge and experience, which helps them in their current or future professional careers. More than 70,000 CIW certifications have been earned worldwide. The International Webmasters Association (IWA) and the Association of Internet Professionals (AIP) endorse the CIW program. Together with these associations, CIW promotes a worldwide educational and certification standard for Web industries in 106 countries.
