Dance Humanities

Welcome to Dance Humanities at Mesa Community College!

Dance Humanities focuses on origins, historical development, and cultural characteristics of the various styles of dance. We continue with exploration, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation of the role of dance in various cultures around the world. In depth analysis of ballet and modern dance from the early roots in European court dance to contemporary dance as well as investigating the role dance plays in shaping American popular culture from the late 19th to the early 21st centuries. Explores social and cultural issues of power, class, gender, age and sexual orientation.

Spring & Fall
Monday - Thursday: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Friday: 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Summer
Monday - Thursday: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
