Information Studies

Information Studies (IFS) combines the acquisition of information research skills with critical thinking skills to prepare students to become knowledgeable creators and consumers of information and are geared to the general student body. These courses help students develop skills in accessing, evaluating and using information. The history and structure of information is examined, along with the economic, legal and social issues surrounding the use of information.
Information Studies Courses Offered at MCC:
- IFS101 Information Skills in the Digital Age -- 3 Credits
Development of skills and competency in accessing, evaluating and using information resources while examining the social and historical context, as well as the technological implications of the use and organization of information. Prerequisite: ENG101, or ENG107, or equivalent. - IFS105 Finding Health Information Online -- 1.0 Credit
Development of skills and competency in accessing, evaluating, and using online medical and health information resources. Prerequisites: None.
